"Kids, you tried your best and you failed miserably. The lesson is, never try."

I don't really know what to say about this. Dave made this Simpson's family out of Legos this morning. Wow. I have to admit I'm impressed.  We're huge Simpson's buffs, if you didn't already know that

So glad when Daddy comes home..

Daddy brought home legos this morning from his work trip to Nevada.
We sat in the warmth of the early morning sunshine as it filtered in through our window...building legos.

Daddy is just a big kid. I am always telling him he reminds me of a 10 year old boy, and then I am corrected-"More like 14.." he tells me. My valentines gift to him was that '69 Camaro Micro Machine you see him playing with below. It was my way of "ok"ing his dream to collect Micro Machines as a hobby, and getting it started for him.

Ashton puts his own underwear on now, can you tell?
I put this one together. Yeah, I'm pretty much the coolest Mom ever. ;)

Spring Fever

 We want spring to come!
We played outside today and we saw grass peeking through all that slushy gray snow.
Spring isn't coming fast enough so we planted our own grass. We are excited to see it grow!

Growing up too fast

I figured it's been way too long since I did an actual shoot of the boys with their clothes on haha) so we set up the studio today and had some fun. My boys are so gorgeous, and they are growing up before my eyes. *tear

Morning

I love the sweet smell of dawn -

our unique daily opportunity to smell time,
to smell opportunity -
each morning being, a new beginning.

"Valentimes" Day

This was the best Valentine's Day in 6 years. What a lucky girl I am to be loved by this man.

All day yesterday I was finding little notes from Dave all over the house that said all the little things he loves about me.

Then I found a pair of earrings he made for me hidden in my makeup bag. I thought he wasn't listening when I was raving about vintage sparrows. He was.

He surprised me today with a desk he's been refinishing for me. I just about passed out. Don't get me wrong, Dave is a sweetheart, he shows me his love by being there for me and supporting me, but he's not much of a gift giver or letter writer. In our 6 1/2 years of marriage I have gotten one card from him and roses once. And that was when we were dating. So, needless to say, it meant so much to me that he took the time to write out his feelings for me and put so much time and thought(and secrecy) into gifts for me. I never expect gifts, but I love cards and letters. Especially from David. He hates writing!

We made sugar cookies to pass out to friends around Logan. The boys somewhat helped(if you can count stealing the scraps to make hills to drive their Lego trucks on) but I'm not posting the pictures because I don't want to gross anyone out who ate those cookies. HAHA only teasing!

I hope everyone's Valentines Day was as full as mine was. xoxo

Play-Doh!

Oh boy. We made play dough today. Jared and Ash really loved it. It kept them busy for literally hours.
If you are trying to save money by making it yourself, don't. It is cheaper and so much easier to buy!
I really made it so that the boys could have something fun to make that they can play with. They love cooking+creating= play dough.

In the below picture Ashton was making pancakes. He is even cutting them like Mommy and Daddy do.
Jared totally surprised me by making a hamburger.

Looks good enough to eat, almost.

Here's our recipe:

  • 1 C flour
  • 1 C warm water
  • 2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp oil
  • 1/4 C salt
  • food coloring

Mix all ingredients except food coloring. Stir constantly over medium heat until a soft dough forms. Remove from pan and knead until blended smooth. Separate into 4-5 small balls and color each differently(optional). Place in airtight container(we used old Play-Doh containers) or plastic bag when cooled. If it is too sticky, add flour.(I had to add a lot!)
